Position Overview:
The Survey and Layout Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring dimensional accuracy and layout precision across all phases of commercial construction projects. This position is responsible for establishing control points, performing site surveys, and translating design documents into accurate field layouts. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with hands-on field experience and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain primary, secondary, and working control systems across job sites.
- Perform topographic and construction layout surveys using total stations, robotic instruments, GPS, laser levels, LiDAR instruments, and conventional .
- Interpret multi-discipline drawings to generate coordinate data for layout using a robotic total station.
- Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to ensure layout accuracy and sequencing.
- Validate field conditions and provide as-built documentation as required.
- Maintain survey logs, field notes, and digital records in compliance with QA/QC standards.
- Support preconstruction planning with site logistics and layout strategies.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and local regulations during all survey activities.
- Assist with layout training efforts utilizing conventional and digital layout methods.
- Maintain equipment that is assigned and procure consumable materials used in layout operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geomatics, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in surveying and layout for commercial construction projects.
- Proficiency with Total Station, Robotic Total Station, GPS, LiDAR Equipment, Conventional Layout Tools, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, tolerances, and building codes.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, shop drawings, and lift plans.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- OSHA 10/30 certification preferred.

Annual Salary Range – $67,000 – $80,000
