Position Overview:

Provide strategic safety leadership across multiple project sites within a designated region(s). Ensure consistent implementation of Corporate Safety & Environmental Programs, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement through mentorship, training, and collaboration with Project Teams and Safety Superintendents.

Key Responsibilities:

Regional Oversight & Compliance:

  • Oversee safety performance across all projects in the assigned region(s).
  • Ensure consistent implementation of the Corporate EHS program, regional safety plans and regional environmental regulations.
  • Coordinate environmental and safety permitting processes with local authorities and project teams.
  • Develops and reviews Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) per specific project activities/needs.
  • Conduct high-level site, office and shops/yards audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Lead complex incident investigations and perform detailed root cause analyses.
  • Monitor regional compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable State regulations.

Communication & Strategic Alignment:

  • Represent the Safety Department in regional Project Manager meetings, Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings and other related meetings where representation of the Corporate EHS Director isn’t practical.
  • Communicate Corporate Safety goals, initiatives, and expectations to project leadership.
  • Ensure alignment between regional operations and corporate safety strategy.
  • Share lessons learned, best practices, and safety performance metrics from other regions across projects.

Training & Development:

  • Collaborate with Corporate EHS and Operations to develop and execute the annual safety training curriculum.
  • Identify regional training needs based on trends, incidents, and regulatory changes.
  • Facilitate or coordinate specialized training sessions for project teams and safety staff.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Assist the Department Manager in creating and maintaining Site Specific Safety, Environmental & Storm Water Pollution Prevention Programs & Fleet Management.
  • Maintain regional safety records, including incident reports, training logs, and audit findings.
  • Track and reports regional safety KPIs to Corporate EHS leadership.
  • Support insurance and loss & risk prevention partners with documentation and site coordination.
  • Assist the Corporate EHS Director, Legal & HR in the preparation of documentation for company use in legal hearings, contested citations, insurance investigations, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Education: BA in Occupational Safety and Health or Environmental/Health Science (not a must, more of a want… could substitute with proven career experience in EHS)
  • 7 to 10 years of Multi-Site Construction Safety Management Experience & Storm Water Pollution Prevention Planning and Maintenance/Execution.
  • Current OSHA 500 (Ability to train in OSHA 10 & 30)
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor
  • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) or equivalent (Ex, NCCER – Construction Site Safety Technician certification)
  • Strong leadership, communication (both verbal and written), and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and the ability to analyze safety data.
  • Bilingual abilities (English & Spanish) preferred.
